Beautiful Whole House Rental
We are a patriotic themed beach house in the North End area of Sandbridge Beach. We are part of the city of Virginia Beach. Our beach connects to the Virginia Beach oceanfront and the Outer Banks aka OBX of North Carolina.
It’s a beautiful, tranquil area to stay. We are at the end of a dead end street that backs up to the Back Bay Wildlife area.
The opposite direction is the beach. Just 1100 feet away to pure bliss.
The space
As we head into our third season here at Heroes Retreat I reflect on our wonderful comments in our guest book. Everyone enjoyed our new home that is just 1100 feet from the beach.
There are several seating areas outdoors. You can enjoy meals on the upstairs patio at the picnic table, by the pool or inside. We are equipped with re-usable plastic, outdoor dishes and cups.
We have a large salt-water pool to enjoy. We added a heater this season. There is an extra fee for this perk. Floats and rafts aren’t included with your stay. So you can bring your own, but they are your responsibility.
Bring your beach towels too!
When booking with us I'm here to help create a memorable stay. I've lived in the area over 15 years and love referring guest to restaurants, shops most of all unique small businesses.
Guest access
Our listing gives you access to the entire beach house and garage area that has a fan to keep you cool while playing ping pong or foosball. Feel free to take out the patriotic and custom cornhole boards. We just ask that you please bring them in at night so they don’t get wet.
Full access to the backyard with in-ground, salt water pool. No diving allowed as the deep end isn’t super deep. Outdoor seating area is covered and equipped with a Smart TV, restroom, picnic table and couch. To make it easy on everyone there’s an outdoor shower for when you come back from the beach and an outdoor restroom. We have a gas grill and fire pit.
Other things to note
We are very strict with the no-smoking rule.
Please read all the items below to prepare you for your stay.
- Guest receive a starter roll of toilet paper in each bathroom. It’s not replenished during your stay.
- A sealed bar of hand soap in each bathroom. It’s not replenished during your stay.
- One bath towel and washcloth per guest on the reservation. Fresh towels and linens are not brought to you. We are not a hotel. A washer/dryer are available to you in the beach house at no additional cost.
- One bath mat and hand towel per bathroom with shower/tub. No bath mat for the outdoor bathroom.
- One set of pot holders, wash cloth and hand towel for use in the kitchen.
- A roll of paper towels is provided.
- Please provide your own shampoo, conditioner, toiletries, laundry soap and dish soap.
- Management Company doesn’t allow any liquids to be left upon check-in for safety of all guest.

This house was all that we wanted it to be. We wanted to be close to the beach (just a blog away, short walk), but the younger of our kids prefer the pool so we wanted that as well. The house was beautiful and fit all our needs perfectly. There are a lot of stairs in case that is a problem for anyone but for a week we didn't mind. No complains. We cannot say enough about this beautiful comfortable home. As a essential health care worker, it was wonderful to leave the world behind for a week and forget all our difficulties. The house was cozy, welcoming, and very patriotic. The fresh flowers were a nice touch. The kitchen had everything you could want down to a juicer. It was easy to check in and the exit policies easy. About Us
Heroes Retreat Mackinac has been welcoming guest since it was built in 2008. We have hosted over 40 families staying at least one month or more. This is due to city code and zoning for the island.
